Watford defender Christian Kabasele has signed a new deal at the club which will keep him there until 2024 at the earliest.
Het Laatste Nieuws report that the 29-year-old has signed a new three-year deal at Vicarage Road, with the official announcement set to be delayed by the Hornets.
According to the newspaper, Kabasele was garnering interest from several clubs in the January transfer window, with his contract set to expire next summer.
However, Watford ‘refused to cooperate’ on a transfer, with several Premier League clubs, including the likes of Manchester United, all linked with making a move.
They are yet to announce the deal but the ‘signatures are there’ and that is just a matter of when, not if.
Should Kabasele see out all four of those years it will take him into eight seasons with the club, having initially arrived at Watford in a €6.26m deal from Genk in 2016.
He’s since gone on to make 95 appearances in all competitions for the club and looks extremely likely to surpass 100 now he’s set to extend his stay further.
