If Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday are to be believed, we could end up with a rather fun Premier League bidding war for Felipe Anderson this summer.
The Italian newspaper explain that while Lazio aren’t exactly for a departure, they would consider bids of around €50m should they arrive on their desk.
So far, there’s been one bid, and it’s come from West Ham, who are believed to have offered €38m for the Brazilian, to no avail, but Chelsea and Watford could easily up the ante.
Gazzetta explain both clubs have enquired about Felipe Anderson, with the Blues’ interest dating back a couple of years.
The Hornets, however, are a more recent addition to the list, as it’s the first time we’ve seen them linked with the forward.
Felipe Anderson’s agents are believed to be the one who will deal directly with the likes of Chelsea and Watford, but there’s a danger Jorge Mendes could wade in and ruin everything.
The Portuguese super agent is said to be trying to wiggle his way in in an attempt to ‘create a way’ for Monaco, where the Brazilian would end up teaming up with Baldé Keita again.
Lazio have a relatively close relationship with Mendes, exemplified by Nani’s loan last summer, and could favour his route if he proves convincing enough.
It’s something to look out for over the coming weeks, and that’s exactly what we’ll be doing.
