If you paid any attention to the 2014 summer transfer window, you might remember Saphir Taider making a brief appearance in the Premier League annals.
Of course, his loan from Inter Milan to Southampton lasted a grand total of 25 days, but he still managed one appearance for the Saints’ U23s, scoring a goal.
Well, the 25-year-old could be set to make a reappearance in England’s top flight next season if Watford get their way.
According to Corriere dello Sport on Saturday, Marco Silva’s new side are suggested as having made the Algeria international one of their targets this summer, but face some competition from Serie A.
The Italian newspaper explain that in order to bring Taider to Vicarage Road, the Hornets would need to see off interest from Fiorentina, who are also interested in the Bologna midfielder.
What isn’t to discard, however, is Taider deciding to stay at his current club, as Corriere explain he’d happily do so if nothing happened from the interest in him.
On loan from Inter for the past two seasons, Bologna decided to make the move permanent this summer, but, if the right offer came along, aren’t against the idea of making a profit on a player who only made 25 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring four goals for them.
