Watford completed the signing of Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona on a permanent transfer earlier in the window, and on Thursday, Sport reported the forward had called his former teammate, Paco Alcacer, to try and convince him to join the Hornets.
Alcacer’s move from Barcelona to Vicarage Road did not take shape and he is still at Camp Nou, despite the Catalan club trying to offload him.
Mundo Deportivo explains his move to England failed because there was no ‘real option’ of joining Watford or any other team from the same league for that matter.
The report further stressed that it was certain that Javi Gracia’s side did not make a proposal for the 24-year-old, which has now forced him to continue at the Camp Nou for the time being.
Mundo’s report suggests the English club were never in for the player and it looks like the Catalan media were trying to push him out of Barcelona.
