Watford striker Cucho Hernandez is on the verge of a move to Getafe, having already flown out to Madrid to undergo a medical.
That’s according to Marca who cover the player’s imminent move from Vicarage Road today.
The striker has spent this summer on loan at Real Mallorca but endured a difficult campaign as injuries limited his playing time significantly.
He does, however, remain highly-rated in Spain and there have been several reports from the country that a host of sides were considering a move for him this summer.
Getafe now appear to have won the race, with Marca reporting the Spanish side are ‘close to signing’ the striker.
They claim that El Cucho arrived in Madrid on Thursday, where he was spotted – and pictured – at the airport.
It’s explained he is in the capital to negotiate with Getafe over a loan deal, which will not include an option to turn the move from Watford into a permanent one.
He is then expected to undergo the necessary medical tests tomorrow before his latest loan deal will be made official.
Negotiations between Watford and Getafe are said to have been a ‘fleeting operation’, hence why things could be finalised in the next few hours.
Talks between the two clubs had initially included an option to buy, but Watford were not keen and, realising it wouldn’t be ‘easy work’ to change their mind, Getafe swapped tactic to win the race for his signature.
