Watford and Stoke City have both been dragged into the Leander Dendoncker mini saga. Just like at the end of the last transfer window, the Anderlecht midfielder seems to be pushing for a move but there’s no firm destination for him.
West Ham and Everton are blowing hot and cold, but now two more Premier League clubs are in the picture.
Watford are the stronger of the pair, with HLN reporting the club are considering making an offer for Dendoncker this month. The 22 year old is said to be a player interesting Watford, but there’s been no offers presented just yet.
As for Stoke City, with them looking for a midfielder and scouting Anderlecht recently, the pieces fit in place, but there’s no more to it than that just yet. HLN say with negotiations for Badou Ndiaye being held up, it could follow on that Stoke turn to Dendoncker.
However, Saturday morning’s reports from Turkey suggest Ndiaye is on his way to Stoke City. He’s left Galatasaray’s training camp and the Turkish media consensus is a Stoke transfer looks on.
There’s also quotes coming from Turkey attributed to Ndiaye, of the player saying he wants to join Stoke City. Given we cover Turkey closely, with a Sport Witness writer in the country, it’s worth explaining these quotes are almost always imagined up.
That’s not to say they’re fabricated, but that paraphrasing is used in many Turkish reports, it’s part of the media culture, and when those quotes then end up in the English media the whole thing can get very confused.
