Watford were one of the busiest clubs on the transfer market in January, although most of their deals took place before deadline day.
Samir, Edo Kayembe, Hassane Kamara, Samuel Kalu, Yaser Asprilla and Maduka Okoye all arrived last month, even if the latter went back on loan to Sparta Rotterdam, giving new manager Roy Hodgson a lot to work with.
Some of those players weren’t his choice, but one who might have been, had the Hornets managed to pull it off, would have been Alexis Flips.
Foot Mercato in France claim Watford were one of the clubs interested in the right-winger, with it explained that both the Premier League side, Brest and Villarreal ‘approached the player’ in the ‘last few hours of the transfer window’.
The Ligue 1 side, however, ‘double-locked’ the door, clearing not wanting to sell their star winger, whom they are said to value at €7m.
Better luck in the summer, maybe?
