We’ve covered every single part of Southampton’s pursuit of Lazio’s Wesley Hoedt, and we would be remiss if we didn’t finish it off properly by letting you know he’s travelling to England on Monday night.

The news comes from Calciomercato.it in Italy, who explain the Dutchman was on his way to St Mary’s in order to finalise his transfer to the Premier League side, where he feels he’ll get more chances of playing regularly.

Earlier on Monday, Il Tempo hinted the deal was all but done and that the player could indeed be travelling Monday, and it seems they were right, with the Italian website claiming all that needs to be done is for him to pass the medical and put pen to paper.

Southampton will be spending €15m up front + €2m in bonuses to sign the 23-year-old, who arrived at Lazio from AZ Alkmaar on a free back in 2015 and established himself as one of the three centre-backs trusted by Simone Inzaghi last season, making 23 league appearances.

If Calciomercato.it’s claims are indeed correct, it’s only a matter of time before the player is standing in front of the club logo with a big smile on his face holding a Southampton shirt.
