On Thursday, we covered some quotes from Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who is currently with the Sweden national team for the International break.
The 23-year-old was signed by the Magpies for €70m from Real Sociedad in the summer, but has unfortunately had to deal with injury setbacks since, only recently managing to get some games under his belt and some goals.
He arrives from Newcastle in good form, bagging a brace against Nottingham Forest in the last game before the break, and spoke to the media again on Friday, relayed by Fotbollskanalen, about his first half of the season with the Premier League side.
He explained: “I got a thigh injury. The first six months at the club were tough, and it took some time to come back from the injury, but it was still okay because I still got to play three games and show a bit. Then the team did so well that it took pressure off me and I could focus on my rehab instead of thinking the team needed me. It helped a bit, but it’s clear it wasn’t easy.”
One of the questions, perhaps inevitable at this point, was whether or not he saw any differences between life and football in England and Spain, which led to a very predictable answer about how he misses ‘the food and the weather’.
Since signing for Newcastle, Isak has scored six goals in 10 Premier League games, which follows a spell of 33 goals inn 105 La Liga games with Real Sociedad.
