With a new found optimism around Barcelona, at least partly down to Joan Laporta winning the recent presidential elections, big transfers have been rumoured by the Catalan media over the past week or so.
The financial problems at the Camp Nou were largely forgotten, or more likely ignored, and a string of big name players were then subsequently linked.
One of those was Erling Haaland, who continues to impress for Borussia Dortmund both in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
The back page of Thursday’s Mundo Deportivo brings a slap of reality to the situation.
Journalist Xavier Bosch strongly suggests that Mino Raiola can snatch away any chance of Barcelona signing the BVB player.
That’s because it’s explained the agent almost always looks for the most money. It’s stated even Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba could have had better careers had they not chased the cash.
As far as Bosch has it, Matthijs de Ligt had told Barca he wanted to sign for the Catalan club, before Juventus offered more money. The journalist compares him unfavourably to how Frenkie de Jong is now a ‘world star’.
Should Haaland’s plans, and specifically those which Raiola has strong influence over, be all about money, then a move to Barcelona is considered unlikely.
