A regional version of Tuesday’s edition of German newspaper Bild has a section on Hannover 96 transfers this summer, and Leeds United and Peterborough United get a mention.

The club finished 6th in 2.Bundesliga in the recently concluded season, so their plans for the coming market will be to add cheap additions who they hope can take them to a battle for promotion.

A big part of their plans is signing a central defender, and one of the options presented is Leeds United’s Charlie Cresswell, with Peterborough United’s Josh Knight another.

21-year-old Cresswell only made five Championship appearances for the Whites last season and has already been linked with an exit from the club.

Bild say there’s been contact between Hannover 96 and the player, and it’s claimed ‘he wants to move’ this summer, presumably to somewhere he can get more time on the pitch.

However, Hannover 96 have dumped the idea. There’s multiple central defenders they can get on a free and that looks to be the route they’re going down.

Specifically, it’s said Josh Knight, coming to the end of his contract with Peterborough United, is a ‘hot candidate’ and could arrive at the 2.Bundesliga side quickly.
