Leicester City’s form improved after Brendan Rodgers took charge at the King Power Stadium in February. The Foxes are second in the table this season, eight points behind leaders Liverpool.
Rodgers replaced Claude Puel, and under the Frenchman’s guidance the English club managed only 19 league wins in 56 matches.
Vicente Iborra was one of the players Puel signed in his first transfer window at Leicester in 2017, and the midfielder arrived at the club from Sevilla. He left them for Villarreal in January 2019.
The 31-year-old made only 20 league starts during his time in England and earlier this year, he claimed Puel never gave him enough opportunities at Leicester, no matter how hard he worked.
Marca have interviewed Iborra ahead of Villarreal’s clash against Atlético Madrid and asked if he returned to Spain to feel important.
Responding to that, the player said: “Yes, I’ve already said that. I wanted to feel important and help, and that’s what I’m getting.”
“I’m getting more minutes and continuity. I want my work and involvement to be of help in achieving the communal objective.”
Things have improved for Iborra since leaving Leicester as he is a now a regular figure in Villarreal’s starting lineup.
Life hasn’t gone too badly for the Foxes either, and Even Puel is having a happy time, with his Saint Etienne side beating Nice 4-1 on Wednesday evening.
