New Borussia Dortmund manager Marco Rose has insisted they will be going into the market for a new right-winger with Jadon Sancho set to join Manchester United.

Sancho is set to move to Old Trafford this summer after the two clubs reached an agreement on a move last week.

Manchester United have a deal in principle to pay £78m for the England star, after more than a year of chasing his signature and one of the more drawn out transfer sagas in recent years.

He is scheduled to complete the move after the Euros, with a medical to be undertaken once England are done at the tournament following Sunday’s final vs Italy.

His departure will leave a major hole in Dortmund’s side, Sancho having established himself as a star player for the German side, racking up 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 appearances since arriving from Manchester City in 2017.

Replacing him once his move to Manchester United is complete is likely to be a key part of the Bundesliga side’s summer, and Rose has confirmed as much.

“Basically, you can say first of all that we have a good squad,” he told Ruhr Nachrichten.

“Of course, we also talk and discuss positions.

“If we had brought in all the players that are in the papers at the moment, Aki Watzke wouldn’t even have a button in his wallet. And we would have a squad of 46 players.

“I think it would do us good to discuss this internally and then see what else happens in terms of departures and possible additions.

“But one thing is clear: if you lose Jadon Sancho, then we have to look for a winger with pace who can go one-on-one. That’s certainly a position where we still want to do something.”
