Adama Traoré’s desire to return to Barcelona saw Wolverhampton Wanderers sanction his loan move to the Catalan club in the winter market.
The 26-year-old joined the La Liga side on a temporary deal until the end of the season, with an option to buy. Operating on the right wing, the Wolves owned player has four assists from six matches in all competitions for Xavier Hernández’s side.
Last summer, Bruno Lage’s side took Francisco Trincão on a season-long loan deal from the Catalan club and it includes a buying option.
On February 10th, Sport stated both sides will make the stays permanent, and no ‘money will be involved’ in the operation.
AS now claim the Spain international has been ‘one of the great surprises’ of the January window. Even though he impressed in his first six matches, the report states ‘superb performances have not yet earned him continuity’ at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona need to pay €30m to Wolves in order to buy the attacker and they ‘want to take a little more time to make a decision’ on the former Aston Villa man.
This is an ‘important amount’, if one takes into account the club’s ‘precarious financial situation’ and interest to sign Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland. The €30m fee to buy Traoré can either be reduced or solved by including Trincão as a part of the deal.
If the Premier League side were to decide against buying Trincão, then they will have to pay a €6m penalty fee to Barcelona. In that case, the price for the Spaniard will come down to €24m.
The report says that as of now, Traoré’s future is ‘up in the air’, even though he has impressed for Xavi’s side.
“We have to wait, it’s still early to make a decision,” a Barca source told AS.
