Havard Nordtveit remains a real possibility for German club Hamburg, report Bild.

The 26 year old only joined West Ham last summer, but perhaps didn’t have the first season in England which he’d have hoped for… 956 Premier League minutes leaves a lot to be desired.

Hamburg would provide Nordtveit with a chance to return to German football, having joined West Ham from Borussia Monchengladbach, where he spent five and a half seasons.

Bild say Hamburg were also interested in the winter transfer window, but, clearly, that interest didn’t result in a transfer. The 26 year old Norwegian is versatile in his defensive positioning, which is attractive for Hamburg, but his wages aren’t quite so appealing.

Signing Nordtveit from West Ham wouldn’t fit in with Hamburg’s aim to reduce their wage bill, and therefore the move will take some serious consideration. Despite the financial difficulties, Nordtveit remains a player on Hamburg’s ‘shopping list’, at least according to German newspaper Bild.
