Unai Emery arriving at Aston Villa means the Premier League club will now be linked with more players in the Spanish market. Specific attention will of course be paid to Villarreal, and Fichajes have started the ball rolling.
They report Villarreal are preparing for the possibility of another big name leaving them, this time from the playing staff. Unai Emery is said to have ‘requested the signing’ of Yeremy Pino, and Aston Villa are described as ‘preparing an offer’.
Fichajes believe Pino could be the biggest sale in the history of Villarreal, and they estimate his value at around €70m.
That alone would bring question marks over a move to Aston Villa, with the Birmingham club having invested heavily in recent windows and unlikely to want to spend so much on one player.
The 20-year-old has made 10 La Liga appearances so far this season, scoring one goal. He can play in a variety of attacking positions and is a full Spain international.
Pino has a good chance of going to the World Cup, which could see his value rise further.
This is perhaps the first of the Villarreal and Aston Villa transfer links, with more inevitably on the way.
