Since Pau Lopez arrived at Tottenham from Espanyol on loan, the club’s fans haven’t really had much chance to get to know the player. Third choice behind Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm, Pau’s first season was always likely to be in the background.
Aside from updates on his transfer situation, the only time he’s really spoken of is if he does something wrong with Tottenham’s second string.
International breaks must be welcomed by the young goalkeeper and once again he’s been able to join up with Spain’s U21 squad. Playing against Italy in a 2-1 victory on Monday evening, Pau made a crucial and impressive save to keep the scores level.
Pau came out well in all the match reports and afterwards the Spanish FA quoted him as saying: “I was very happy for these two games, I was not expecting to play them and I’m happy for how they came out, how the team played, we came from a complicated qualifying phase and now we’ve won two games against complicated teams.”
