Kasımpaşa defender Yasin Özcan has spoken to the Turkish media about his transfer to Aston Villa and his thoughts about joining up with his new teammates in the summer.

Özcan was confirmed as a Villa player in February after being linked with the Premier League side throughout the last transfer window.

Speaking to Mackolik, Özcan was asked about the players he will be playing along side when he arrives for pre-season training.

“Aston Villa made very important transfers in the winter transfer window. It’s going to be very exciting training with then in pre-season camp. The players I want to play with the most are Rashford and Watkins. I’d love to play with them,” said the young defender.

The 18-year-old was linked with a move to Liverpool, but Aston Villa won the race to sign the central defender after they got a pre-contract agreement with him during the last transfer window.

It’s been reported a  transfer fee of €7m had been agreed between the two clubs and that Aston Villa have agreed to pay Kasımpaşa 20% of the profit from his future sale.

Özcan has made 28 league starts for Kasımpaşa this season and has been a regular for the Super Lig side since making his debut in 2022. He’s also represented the Turkish U21 side on 12 occasions.
