Last October, Arsenal had sent a scout to closely monitor a few Galatasaray players and Barış Alper’s name was included in the list.
Fast forward to February and Takvim provides the latest on the Gunners’ interest in the 23-year-old.
It’s claimed Arsenal are one of the clubs to have sent their official to watch the winger live in action against Slavia Prague on Thursday.
The north London club’s scout would have been impressed by the Turkey international, started in his side’s 3-2 win.
Alper has scored four goals and registered six assists from 30 games and has been used as a fullback on a few occasions this season. His fine displays and versatility have seen several clubs take notice.
Apart from Arsenal, scouts from Lazio and Sassuolo were also monitoring him closely on Thursday. His current deal lasts until 2027, but the website states it won’t be surprising if the interested parties knock on the Istanbul club’s door for him in the summer.
Takvim state Alper is currently valued at €7.5m and if there’s a sale, Galatasaray’s aim is to ‘obtain maximum income’.
Arsenal or other clubs could consider an approach if Alper were to continue to shine in the coming months.
