Marcelo Bielsa has been in the news this week.
The Leeds United manager is always in the news, former players of his constantly talk about the impression he left on them, but this week has been more hyped than usual.
Frank Lampard going overboard on ‘spygate’ led to Bielsa explaining just how much he prepares for matches.
That in turn led to some in English football insisting all clubs prepare in the exact same way and Bielsa is therefore nothing special, few believed them and Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino would be among the first to back up what rubbish the claims are.
Anyway, Bielsa is also a big name in France, reaching cult status during his time with Marseille. Sitting on an ice cooler in the South of France was more successful than a brief stint at Lille, and the manager continues to pick up headlines.
France Football suggest the Leeds boss could be about to sign himself a utility player, going with a headline saying: ‘Mercato: Mehdi Abeid (Dijon) with Marcelo Bielsa in Leeds?’
The Championship club are said to be keen, and have taken information about the possible signing. France Football point out it’s a good chance for Dijon to make some money from a player with six months remaining on his contract.
Abeid, 26 years of age, can play a variety of roles in midfield. If Leeds want him, it doesn’t look like a difficult deal to do.
