On Monday, we covered claims from Italy which stated Nikola Vlasic is about to leave West Ham.
An agreement was said to be close for the 24-year-old to move to Torino on loan, yet no financial details were shared. As is often the case in Italian football, especially with taking players from the Premier League, this is where issues arrive.
Cronaca Qui, a local Turin outlet, reports the ‘the usual trouble’ has arrived for the deal, and that’s ‘West Ham want money’.
Vlasic joined the Hammers in August 2021 in a deal reportedly worth as much as €30m. He struggled to impose himself under David Moyes, and that’s encouraged transfer rumours.
According to Cronaca Qui, Torino are ‘getting serious’ for Vlasic, but they need to drive West Ham’s demands down. A loan move with a purchase option is desired, so they could then choose whether to sign him permanently at the end of next season.
Over at Tuttosport they report Vlasic currently earns €4m a year with the London club, and therefore West Ham would ‘have to pay’ a percentage of his salary during any loan. There’s no mention of a loan fee, and the only potential positive in this for West Ham is getting a transfer fee next summer.
Torino took Dennis Praet on loan from Leicester City last summer with a €15m buying option. They want to keep him, but are trying to reduce that price hugely or secure another loan.
Fiorentina took Lucas Torreira on loan from Arsenal, also with a €15m option. He was one of their best players last season but this summer they’ve wanted to pay the Gunners half of that agreed amount.
West Ham need to be careful they don’t hand out too good a deal here.
