A few days ago Fussball Transfers linked Wolves with Bernd Leno, and it’s spread far and wide in England.
The German website said there’d been some sort of talks, but made sure to talk down the story: ‘Whether it goes beyond the first talks with Wolves is questionable. Leno certainly has other requirements than the expected relegation battle in England.’
Meow.
Anyway, despite being everywhere in England, the story hasn’t really taken off in Germany. That isn’t because they all expect Wolves to be propping up the table, the club generally have a good reputation around Europe.
German newspaper Bild explain a Bayer Leverkusen exit for Leno is expected, after Lukas Hradecky’s arrival at the club. But in two articles published yesterday they linked both Atletico Madrid and Arsenal and didn’t mention Wolves once. Kicker has a report today, and they don’t mention Wolves either.
Over to Rui Patricio, who was strongly linked to Wolves only to then see the claims fade. Wednesday saw Juventus brought in as contenders to sign the Sporting goalkeeper. That didn’t seem especially strong, not as concrete as the Napoli links.
There was also a report which explained Patricio won’t try to cancel his Sporting contract (which lasts until 2022) despite being attacked last week by ‘fans’ at the club’s training centre. There had been claims Patricio would try to leave for free, something carried on by CalcioNapoli24 today, but it seems unlikely.
The hassle involved in such a process would be a nightmare, and whilst Patricio’s agent may push for a reduced fee, a free transfer probably isn’t going to happen.
With CalcioNapoli24 saying Napoli have put the proposed deal on standby until the legal issues in cancelling the contract are sorted, that sounds like good news for any Wolves interest.
