Sofiane Boufal, Lille’s explosive left winger, has attracted a lot of attention this transfer window, mostly because his current club have made it clear they are looking to sell him this summer.
Currently recuperating from a knee injury, the Moroccan international is expected to be fully fit towards mid-August, but his current condition shouldn’t impact a transfer if one were to take place before then.
Many clubs around the Premier League have been linked with a move for the forward, including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Southampton, as well as numerous other European clubs.
Yesterday, reports started to emerge the player’s agent was set to have meetings with the last three Premier League clubs on that list with a view to discussing a potential move.
However, Sport Witness understands that while those three clubs are definitely interested in the winger, no meetings have been planned as of yet.
It would appear that an article from La Voix du Nord on Tuesday, stating that Chelsea and Sevilla were interested in Boufal, is at the heart of all this, with the local newspaper also mentioning Southampton as a club recently enquiring about the player.
With Claude Puel set to take charge of the currently managerless Premier League club, this last bit of news shouldn’t be surprising.
That’s where things stand with Boufal at the moment, and we’ll be sure to update you on any further developments in the future.
