Arsenal defender William Saliba is one of three centre-backs that Atlético Madrid are ‘looking at’ for next season.
That’s according to Fichajes, who say the Spanish side have a ‘serious problem’ at the back which they want to remedy as soon as possible.
They explain that Atlético need a ‘generational change’ in their defence as neither Felipe nor Stefan Savic or Jose Maria Gimenez are at the level expected of them this season.
The sporting management at the club are therefore looking at potential signings and have three names in mind, with Arsenal’s Saliba being one of them.
He has ‘escaped’ them in the past, with the Madrid side have come ‘really close’ to signing him when he was still at Saint Etienne.
They came back for him last season as well but his explosion at Marseille led Arsenal to take him back and he’s since become ‘untouchable‘ for Mikel Arteta.
Indeed, they are known to be working on an extension to his current deal as proof of that.
Despite that being the situation, the Colchoneros have his name ‘marked in red’ on their agenda as he is one of the ‘great desires’ for manager Diego Simeone.
