If there’s one thing the Tuttosport offices need to do in the near future, it’s hold a meeting and decide whether or not Nemanja Matic is part of Antonio Conte’s plans.
Just under three weeks ago, the Italian newspaper claimed the Serbian midfielder was deemed surplus to requirements, and now they seem to have changed their tune, which seems strange considering N’Golo Kanté has arrived in the meantime.
They have an update on the situation on Monday, claiming the player does not want to sit on the bench next season even though he is labelled as ‘unsellable’ by Chelsea.
Despite Matic reacting to Kanté’s arrival with great professionalism, saying ‘all champions were welcome at Chelsea’, Tuttosport claim the player is trying to leverage a move out of Stamford Bridge as he may see his game time reduced.
Of course, Juventus are still monitoring the situation, but the Serbian defensive midfielder remains plan B as Zenit St Petersburg’s Axel Witsel is now the number one target in case of a (still likely) Paul Pogba exit.
It seems Matic is going from being plan A to plan B pretty much everywhere right now, and that’s not a position you want to be in if you’re a footballer deserving of regular first-team football.
