Missing just one game all season, it’s fair to say Kieran Tierney is one of the first names of Brendan Rodgers’ team sheet these days.
The 20-year-old has quickly become one of the revelations of the Scottish Premiership, and there’s every chance his future could quickly be elsewhere if the right offer is put in front of the Celtic board.
Considering how expensive a good full-back is these days, that price will probably rather inflated, which means we were surprised to read La Nazione report Fiorentina are taking an interest in his services.
Violanews relay the report, with the daily newspaper claiming a scout went to see the left-back recently, with a potential offer to be made in June after an initial loan.
However, a loan with a view to buy in 2019 ‘is not to be excluded’ either, which would allow them to evaluate the youngster more before putting money on the table.
While this is a great idea on paper, we find it very unlikely that Celtic would agree to loaning one of their regular starters next summer just because a club fancies taking a better look at him over the course of a ‘season and a half’.
Frankly, we don’t believe this, mostly because Tierney is described as being ‘hardly employed by the Scottish team’, which is a straight up lie seeing as he’s already played 2680 minutes of football since the start of the campaign.
