One of the most influential figures among the Galatasaray media, journalist Fatih Altayli has criticised the recent performances of Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru.
Despite scoring 11 goals this season the Nigerian winger’s selfish (as some see it) displays have come in for scrutiny in the Turkish press and Altayli believes this is the reason why the Turkish club’s record signing Mbaye Diagne has only scored one goal from open play since arriving in January.
Speaking to Sporx, Altayli said about the Everton player: “As I’ve often said, Onyekuru loses possession way too many times when he plays. All the time he picks up the ball wants to dribble for 45 metres and then he loses it. It’s unacceptable.
In recent weeks there has been speculation with regards to the future of Onyekuru after claims in the Turkish media that Bayern Munich are interested in the 21 year old. Everton sporting director Marcelo Brands has reportedly put a €40m price tag on the youngster.
There have been claims Galatasaray want to loan the attacker for another season, which could be difficult.
Due to his ongoing problems getting a work permit which would allow him to play in England, the attacker has yet to make his competitive debut for Everton after joining the Merseyside club just over 12 months ago.
