Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saw Manchester United bounce back with a win, following their 5-0 humiliating defeat against Liverpool at Old Trafford on October 24th.
Last week, reports, mainly from Italy, indicated the Red Devils are considering replacing the Norwegian with Antonio Conte.
While Solskjaer received a lifeline with his side’s latest win on Saturday, the ex-Chelsea boss continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford. The Italian has been without a job since stepping down as Inter Milan’s manager at the end of last season.
Conte is not in favour of taking a coaching position midway through the season, but is ready to make an exception ‘only for United’, report Calciomercato.it.
The website states: ‘There should be only one indispensable offer from a personal point of view and from the restructuring of the squad.’
Tottenham have emerged as a candidate, but the report explains the club are not willing meet Conte’s request of ‘restructuring the squad’.
Conte, for his part, has his focus on ‘only United’ and has ‘already given his availability’ to the Red Devils, should they decide to part ways with Solskjaer.
Time will tell whether or not Manchester United have plans to replace their current manager with Conte, but it seems increasingly clear he’s keen.
