It may be taking longer than expected, but Andre Carrillo’s transfer from Benfica to Watford on a one year loan deal is still on.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola insists on saying the move can be sealed this week, as the clubs continue negotiating the deal which should cost the Hornets a €1m fee.

Carrillo didn’t want the move at first, but ended up being convinced by Watford’s insistence, especially because he’s worked under manager Marco Silva before.

The pair worked together at Sporting, in happier times for the Peru international.

A Bola claims there are some small details to be sorted between Watford and the player, but it’s still not clear what the exact issue is.

Especially because the club are reportedly willing to pay for Carrillo’s full salary and even the bonuses he has in his contract with Benfica.

The Peruvian winger hasn’t been called up for recent match-day squads and Benfica want to resolve his situation as soon as possible. As he doesn’t seem to have any other options on the table, it’s hard to believe Watford won’t end up landing him before the window closes.
