Unai Emery will be joined by coach Jaime Arias when he takes charge at Aston Villa this week.
That’s according to La Voz de Galicia, who say the Spanish manager will be adding the Villarreal coach to his team at Aston Villa.
Emery was confirmed as Steven Gerrard’s replacement yesterday, with the Villans moving quickly to pay his release clause to get him out of Villarreal.
La Voz follow that up today and say he ‘takes Arias with him’ having decided to keep him as part of his coaching staff in Birmingham.
They explain the 23-year-old, who left Real Oviedo in the summer to join as one of Emery’s assistants at Villarreal, has seemingly made a positive impression on Emery and he wants him with him for his second spell in the Premier League.
Arias has something of a growing reputation after his work with Oviedo’s División de Honor, where he developed some of the club’s rising talent, and led the youth B team to become National League champions in 2021/21.
Like Emery, Arias has already signed his deal with Aston Villa and work now begins on getting Villa up the table to where they think they should be.
