Needing a new right-back following the injury to Hector Bellerin, Arsenal have turned their attention to Italy to try and find the right man.
According to France Football, the Gunners have targeted Kevin Malcuit, who signed for Napoli over the summer.
The former Lille defender has been targeted as a ‘priority’ by Unai Emery, who knows him from his time in Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal are said to have started ‘putting out feelers’ to see if a deal could be doable.
With little money in the coffers and Napoli having spent €11m in the summer to acquire the 27-year-old, it seems unlikely that Aurelio de Laurentiis will agree to anything, especially since Malcuit has started the last three games, but there’s no harm in trying.
France Football state Arsenal are ‘clearly’ targeting Malcuit, as Emery isn’t fully convinced that Ainsley Maitland-Niles will be able to replace Bellerin adequately for the rest of the season.
It’s a long shot, but perhaps the Gunners have found some money down the back of the sofa?
