Gian Piero Ventura is not exactly the most welcome of people in his home country of Italy right now, after he led the national team to World Cup failure.
The blame was placed very much at Ventura’s door, and he’s seen as (and this may be putting a kind slant on it) past it, clueless, out of touch and unable to manage effectively in modern football.
He’s not exactly the man fans would want at their club, because even if all the criticism is unfair, or his incompetence is related solely to international football, Ventura would arrive on a downer.
That’s why an article from Friday’s Tuttosport will worry Watford fans, although it may please those up at Everton.
Tuttosport state Marco Silva’s future remains uncertain, with Everton pressing for the manager and making offers. The Goodison Park farce of Thursday evening has only made Everton’s situation even more desperate and their need greater, David Unsworth isn’t the manager he so clearly wants to be.
Therefore, preparing for a potential Silva exit even if it’s not eventually to Everton, Watford are said to have pinpointed Ventura. The Pozzo family are interested, with it not just being an emergency thing, the appointment and Silva exit could wait until the summer.
This one has to be nonsense, surely?!
