Barcelona have been doing some transfer window shopping in Portugal this week and that saw director of football Robert Fernandez personally watch Benfica against Napoli.
His second in command, Urbano Ortega, watched Porto demolish Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City. It’s explained that Barcelona will have been well aware Leicester were set to play a weakened team, so therefore it’s not the best opportunity to see Porto players tested.
Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo say there was no set target, and that Leicester’s players will have also been under the microscope. Mundo Deportivo reel off some of those who played and call Ben Chilwell ‘a talented left back’.
None of the Leicester players will have left left Urbano going back to Barcelona raving about their quality.
Maybe that was all part of the plan, laying down before Porto so as not to show Barcelona the real quality of Leicester’s reserves. Making sure the gems weren’t snapped up.
Cunning.
