RB Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schröder has insisted they’re not done with Fabio Carvalho yet, hinting he won’t be returning to Liverpool in January.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who cover the player amid developing reports that he could be recalled by Liverpool and sent elsewhere in the January transfer window.
The youngster joined the German side on loan in the summer in search of regular playing time, which wasn’t on offer under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
It’s a situation he and Liverpool are presumably not happy about, with the lack of playing time a severe hindrance to their plans and their hopes of the 21-year-old developing further this season.
That’s led to speculation that he could be brought back to Anfield next month and sent somewhere else, with former club Fulham cited as a potential destination.
Schröder is having none of that, though, with FT reporting him saying that it is “typical power games” and how “we (Leipzig) want the boy to scratch and bite. He will get his playing time.”
They then add that the last word does not seem to have been spoken yet on the matter, indicating RB Leipzig aren’t keen on losing Carvalho, even if Liverpool have other plans.
