If the Catalan media are correct then Txiki Begiristain can’t be faulted for effort in his pursuit of Hector Bellerin. Hardly a week goes by without one of the Catalan sport newspapers claiming Txiki has been speaking to Bellerin’s agent, and doing what he can to get a potential Manchester City transfer off the ground.
In their Tuesday edition, Mundo Deportivo report that Txiki has been ‘repeatedly’ contacting Bellerin’s agent, to try and convince the player’s entourage that a move to Manchester City makes sense.
Txiki keeps transmitting the message that Pep Guardiola wants Bellerin in his squad, and has ‘full confidence’ in the player.
However, in true Catalan style, Mundo Deportivo say Bellerin would much prefer to join Barcelona. It’s his home, and Bellerin thinks that signing for Barcelona, over moving to Manchester City or staying with Arsenal, would give his international career a boost.
Bellerin is also said to be worried that moving to Manchester City would be too much of betrayal to Arsene Wenger.
Barcelona, and the club’s transfer chief Robert Fernandez, therefore have the advantage.
