Vitolo is a target for Manchester City, report Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo. Why do they care City are interested in a Sevilla player? Because they say Barcelona are too.
It’s not just those two in the chase, Atletico Madrid are stated as keen, and it’s probably Diego Simeone’s club who have been most linked over the past few months.
Manchester City’s interest in Vitolo is said to come through Txiki Begiristain, although it must be assumed Pep Guardiola’s opinion would be pretty weighty in such a matter.
The 27 year old, christened Víctor Machín Pérez and rebranded as the snappier Vitolo, is currently a Sevilla player. He’s been there since moving from Las Palmas in 2013, and the midfielder has continued his progress.
His versatility for Sevilla has shown Vitolo can be played pretty much anywhere from the centre circle forward. although his main role this season has been as a left sided attacking midfielder.
Four goals and the same numner of assists are a reasonable return in La Liga so far this season.
Vitolo isn’t a huge star but he’s a steady good performer, if we ignore his recent nightmare against Barcelona. Sevilla are said to want €40m, the buyout clause, for a transfer, but they’d likely accept less.
Mundo Deportivo believe Vitolo prefers Barcelona above all other options, but they believe that of every footballer.
Vitolo would be an interesting option for Guardiola, if not immediately jumping out as a necessity for Manchester City.
