It’s a little questionable to take joy from the injury woes of opponents, but Everton have a good opportunity to do that with Lyon this week.

Right now, Ronald Koeman and his Everton side will take every advantage they can get, and they certainly need it. A bad loss at home to Lyon on Thursday would tip the Everton cart even further, but the French side will be arriving without some of their better players.

In their Wednesday edition, French newspaper L’Equipe report that Lyon are now down a further two plauyers for their trip to Goodison Park.

Mariano Diaz, signed from Real Madrid in the summer, is set to miss the Everton match, report L’Equipe, and he’s now being joined by teammate Ferland Mendy.

That’s an important pair for Lyon to be without, Mendy is a regular starter at left back for the French side, picking up an assist in his last match, and Mariano has scored 7 goals so far this season.

L’Equipe say the latest two injury problems add to more for Lyon, with Pape Cheikh Diop, Clément Grenier and Jérémy Morel already out.
