Brighton & Hove Albion have their eyes on Ajax’s Nicolás Tagliafico, according to today’s edition of Argentine newspaper, Olé.

The left-back has entered his final year of contract in Amsterdam and is ‘clear’ he wants to change clubs this summer.

Barcelona looked at the 29-year-old in the past and he has again emerged as an option for them.

It may be difficult for the La Liga side to sign the defender because the fee quoted by the Dutch champions is deemed too high by the Camp Nou club. The report states the Eredivisie winners are asking for €5m for the Argentina international.

Apart from Xavi Hernández’s side and Brighton, Sevilla and Lyon are after the fullback.

Meanwhile, reports coming out of France have stated the Ligue 1 side have taken the lead in the transfer race by agreeing a fee with Ajax.

L’Equipe state the two sides would have agreed a fee for approximately €14m, excluding bonuses. They further add Lyon
have also held talks with the South American, but he has not given a firm response to them so far.

Tagliafico is ‘certainly procrastinating’, may be to see if he receives a ‘superior offer’ from the Premier League, where Brighton are in the picture, or if another top team that plays in the Champions League come for him.
