Ryan Sessegnon was one of the signings Tottenham Hotspur completed during Mauricio Pochettino’s final transfer window at the club in the summer of 2019.
Spurs appointed José Mourinho in November of that year and the 20-year-old failed to have any prominence under the Portuguese tactician.
The north London club allowed their player to join TSG Hoffenheim on a season-long loan deal and the temporary move has allowed him to experience the Bundesliga.
According to Kicker, Hoffenheim signed the England U21 international after Konstantinos Stafylidis suffered a shoulder injury last September. It’s claimed Mourinho’s man ‘will return to Tottenham in the summer’, with there seemingly no intention of prolonging things.
Kicker’s claims are also backed by Fussball Transfers. According to FT, David Raum will ‘replace’ Sessegnon at Hoffenheim next season.
On Wednesday, the German club confirmed Raum will join Hoffenheim after his contract with Greuther Fürth expires at the end of this season.
Sessegnon still has several years left on his contract with the Premier League side, but if Mourinho decides not to include him in his plans for next season, he could consider a move away from Tottenham in the summer.
AC Milan were linked with him in the past and reports from this month suggested the Rossoneri could look at him again in the future, especially after Sessegnon expressed his admiration for the Serie A side.
“I like La Liga which is a good league with great teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona. But I also like Serie A a lot: there is Milan, a top club that I’ve always liked. But for now, I am focused only on my team,” he told Pianeta Milan.
