For the past week or so, reports coming out of the Italian press have stated AC Milan have an interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Japhet Tanganga.
After the Rossoneri held talks with the 23-year-old’s agent, Sky Italia reported on Saturday they made contact with the north London club. They didn’t provide an insight to what was discussed between the two sides and how Milan plan to sign Antonio Conte’s man.
This information is provided by Calciomercato, who state the Serie A winners are looking to replicate ‘Tomori-bis’ to take the defender away from Spurs.
Stefano Pioli’s side took Fikayo Tomori initially on a loan deal from Chelsea in 2020 and made his stay at the San Siro permanent a year later.
In Tanganga’s case, Milan are looking to take him on a loan deal with right of redemption. It’s said the Italian champions want a free loan deal so that they can use the resources to sign other players.
The evaluations are underway for the 23-year-old at the San Siro. Milan and Tottenham ‘yesterday began to discuss the figures in order to possibly start a future negotiation’.
Sunday’s Corriere dello Sport have a report titled: ‘Operation Tanganga is now getting serious’.
Inside the report, they state Conte’s man can be a ‘serious candidate’ to replace Alessio Romagnoli at the San Siro.
The newspaper states Milan made contact with Spurs in the last few hours, after already making contact with the Englishman’s agent. The latest talk with Tottenham could lead to ‘real negotiation’ from tomorrow.
Tanganga is back training with Tottenham after recovering from an injury at the start of this year. He now wants to change clubs in order to enjoy more game time next season.
Milan can given him that opportunity, provided the formula for a loan deal can be struck with Spurs. This deal will take place if Tottenham make the player available on a temporary transfer.
Corriere state Newcastle are also looking at Tanganga. Milan, for their part, will not enter into a battle with the Magpies, like they did for Sven Botman.
