Chelsea defender Jake Clarke-Salter made his first team debut against Aston Villa in April 2016, and John Terry was so impressed with his performance that he backed the centre-back to be his successor at Stamford Bridge.
That hasn’t happened and since then, the 23-year-old has had loan spells at Bristol Rovers, Sunderland, Vitesse Arnhem and Birmingham City.
Het Belang van Limburg has a short report on the defender and they state the Blues player is ‘on the radar’ of Club Brugge.
Another newspaper, Het Nieuwsblad, echoes the claims made by HBVL, and provides further information on the Belgian champions’ efforts to land the defender.
Club Brugge’s Matej Mitrović suffered a serious injury in July and is not expected to return until the start of 2021. Therefore, the Jupiler Pro League side are in the market for a new centre-back and they now have Clarke-Salter ‘on the radar’.
It’s claimed Club Brugge ‘see something’ in the Chelsea player, and they plan on convincing him to join them on a loan deal.
Het Nieuwsblad adds there’s no clarity on whether or not Clarke-Salter ‘would like an adventure in Belgium’ when Trabzonspor and other clubs in the Championship are after him.
