Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of the clubs keeping an eye on Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan, according to reports from France.
The 20-year-old made his first team debut last season and has been a regular for the Ligue 1 side this season, operating as a centre-back, right-back and even as a defensive midfielder.
According to Foot Mercato, the Frenchman’s performances from the previous campaign had caught the attention of AC Milan.
Strasbourg didn’t consider allowing their player to leave in the summer because the Serie A side arrived too late to negotiate the transfer.
However, the Rossoneri haven’t forgotten about the versatile star, and the report adds Milan chief Paolo Maldini, who is fan of Simakan, has increased contacts with his entourage.
An offer from the Italian club is already in the pipeline and could arrive at Strasbourg president Marc Keller’s desk.
It’s further claimed Strasbourg are also aware Wolves and RB Leipzig continue to ‘closely monitor’ the France U20 international’s progress.
L’Equipe state Milan will return to charge with an offer of €15m to sign the Strasbourg man in the winter market.
These claims have been relayed by RMC Sport, who also add their own information, explaining Simakan is ‘followed’ by Wolves and Leipzig.
Wolves will have to act fast if they wish to sign him because Milan seem to be ahead in the transfer chase.
