French claims of Manchester United being interested in Lucas Hernandez have made their way to Spain and are carried in more than one newspaper on Thursday.
AS carry an article headlined ‘Manchester United want Lucas for the winter market’, and they also state Manchester City are thinking about making a move in the summer.
The United interest is from France, with AS insisting ‘Both France Football and Le10 Sport ensure that by next January, Mourinho’s Manchester United wants to take his services, paying the clause in full’.
It’s then claimed by the Spanish newspaper that Lucas has responded with a ‘refusal’. Atletico Madrid are said to be set to reward the player’s loyalty with a new contract, but they also want to increase his buyout clause to €150m.
City interest is credited to Calciomercato.
Upon checking what France Football actually say, they have an article about Real Madrid interest in the player and the clause being raised to €80m in June, and add: ‘But Real has not been cooled by this new clause, any more than Manchester United, also on the lookout.’
That’s it.
Over at Le10 Sport, their article is simply coverage of what France Football had said.
Therefore, despite the claims of a Mourinho swoop when the window opens, and despite several Spanish newspapers carrying it… this is all based on the initial claims of United being ‘on the lookout’.
