As Brazilian fullback Vanderson is expected to be announced as AS Monaco’s new signing at some point in the very near future, Brentford will likely be disappointed to have missed out on the 20-year-old.
Reports from the South American media had been claiming that the Bees had an agreement with Grêmio for the transfer, and that’s when the Ligue 1 side came up and hijacked the move.
A couple of stories even claimed that Monaco offered more money in transfer bonuses, and that’s why Grêmio preferred their bid. Now according to an update from Lance’s Rodrigo Viana, the player’s personal choice is what had a bigger impact.
The journalist writes that Vanderson chose the Ligue 1 side for two reasons. Firstly, because he’d rather live in the French principality than in London. And then because of the lower taxes he’ll have there.
It’s said Brentford’s offer had consisted of €11m plus €3m in bonuses, and the one from Monaco is similar. The ‘basic differences’ are those which convinced the player.
The story adds that Vanderson is expected to have his medicals with AS Monaco today and should soon be announced by the club.
