El Confidencial have run with the Eden Hazard and Real Madrid links, added some more, brought in Thibaut Courtois, and made everything more dramatic.
The Spanish media outlet claim both Hazard and Courtois have been offered to Real Madrid, presumably by middlemen, with both players also said to be stalling on renewing their contracts with Chelsea.
Described as a ‘serious problem’ for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, El Confidencial explain it’s Courtois who Real Madrid would have the most interest in, and even then it’s only on a free transfer in June 2019.
As for Hazard, he would only be considered if it’s thought impossible to sign Neymar from PSG in the near to medium future.
Both Chelsea players having a desire to move to Madrid is nothing new, and recent comments from Hazard’s father had fuelled that particular fire. As for Courtois, he’s never really seemed entirely settled at Chelsea, and with his children living in Madrid there’s a very good reason for him to fancy the move.
Whilst there may have been a little artistic licence used with the rumour, it doesn’t take a great imagination to believe there’s something in this.
