The French media are clearly completely ignoring any denials about a Thibaut Courtois meeting with PSG’s director of football Antero Henrique.

On Thursday, RMC reported the Chelsea goalkeeper is considering an approach from PSG  and is ‘very interested’ in the project at the French club.

Chelsea were said to be ready to keep Courtois until the end of this contract, prepared to lose him on a free rather than bend to transfer demands this summer.

Saturday’s edition of L’Equipe covers the situation and claims Courtois met Henrique twice in London. There’s been talks between the goalkeeper’s entourage and PSG, according to the claims, but he’s not the only consideration at PSG.

From a Chelsea perspective it’s concerning. Unless Courtois extends his contract, which expires in June 2019, then there’s obviously going to be increasing doubt around the goalkeeper’s future.

If the plan has always been to drag things out and then pressure Chelsea to accept a cut-price transfer this summer, then the London club may make it a point of principle and act tough.

Courtois himself has made it clear how he feels about Madrid, and a return there, with his children living in the city. Maybe Jan Oblak could go to PSG and Atletico Madrid use the money to get their former goalkeeper back.

There’s been talk of Real Madrid interest, but it’s always felt quite tentative.
