This was an important week for the future of Lionel Messi.

With the departure of Josep Maria Bartolomeu from Barcelona, it’s clear that the Argentine star won his personal war with the former club president.

That’s why his chances of leaving the Camp Nou are now being re-evaluated, and Spanish outlet El Confidencial brings an update on the possibility of him joining Manchester City.

Their report claims there are two key factors for the Premier League side to keep a chance to sign Lionel Messi next summer.

These are called Sergio Aguero and Pep Guardiola.

It’s said Lionel Messi keeps in constant contact with his national teammate, and has been receiving updates on his situation, as Agüero’s contract expires at the end of the season and he has offers to leave Manchester City for Inter Milan and Lazio.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s stay is considered to be more likely, as the Premier League side are ‘confident’ he’ll sign a new deal, despite rumours linking other managers to the job.

Regarding Lionel Messi, it’s said that even though he and his family have his life made in Barcelona, he still has Manchester as an interesting option.

His father is said to be in touch with Ferran Soriano and Txiki Bergiristain preparing a possible move.

But with Bartolomeu gone, it remains a mystery if the Camp Nou’s greatest star will choose to stay or not.
