Earlier on Thursday, we covered a claim from Greece that Olympiacos were in advanced talks with Leicester City over the potential loan deal of Rachid Ghezzal.
The winger doesn’t appear to be in Brendan Rodgers’ plans as he has yet to pick him in one of his squads this season, and instead of letting him rot in the reserves, a move away, even if only temporary, seems best for all parties.
However, the aforementioned Greek side aren’t the only interested party, according to Foot Mercato, as Sampdoria in Italy and Schalke 04 in Germany are also ‘interested’ in getting the Algeria international on loan.
With still a few days left in most transfer windows across Europe, there is plenty of time to get a deal over the line for the 27-year-old, and it will be interesting to see where he chooses to move.
On paper, Olympiacos could be the more attractive option seeing as they qualified for the Champions League group stages, but the better standard of league in Germany and Italy could work in Sampdoria’s and Schalke’s favour.
The forward made 23 appearances in all competitions last year, most of which were off the bench, scoring three goals.
