Earlier in June, Anthony Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley gave an interview to France’s RMC where he explained the forward wants to leave Manchester United.
The same publication now claims the former AS Monaco man is in the centre of a war between Jose Mourinho and club’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward. His manager wanted to sanction his sale, while the Red Devils chief is keen on retaining the attacker.
AC Milan and Atletico Madrid made approaches for the 22-year-old, which have been turned down by the Premier League club.
While the Portuguese tactician was at Chelsea, he sanctioned the sale of Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne, who are now the star players at Liverpool and Manchester City respectively.
RMC Sport claims Woodward wants to avoid a similar situation with the Frenchman, who is a ‘player with great talent’. Manchester United have made a ‘significant’ offer of a five-year deal for Martial and discussions are ongoing as the situation is ‘very complex’ for Martial.
