Stoke City are close to a deal which would see Giannelli Imbula leave the club before Thursday’s deadline.

Imbula has been linked with a Stoke City exit throughout the summer transfer window, but the finances of a deal have always proved a problem. Stoke haven’t been willing to take a big loss on Imbula, despite the player not being crucial for Mark Hughes.

The tough Potters line has seen a succession of potential suitors come and go for Imbula, which leaves him without a new club a couple of days before the deadline.

But France’s SFR report there could be some late progress. Toulouse have been linked several times during the summer and they’ve now returned to the table.

SFR report a transfer is close, after a potential Monaco move collapsed with the French principality club taking too long. Talks are underway for a loan from Stoke, and a decisive meeting will be held in the next 24 hours.
